Born in San Francisco, I first came to Finland in 1969 to discover my “roots,” as my father’s parents were both from Finland. I attended Tampereen yliopisto after which I moved to Wisconsin with my Finnish husband. We returned to Finland in 1986 with 3 children.
I have been teaching English in Finland since 1995, having majored in English, specializing in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have taught every skill level over the years, as well as in various different fields, both in company English programs and in night school.
I also spent 5 years teaching English in China, two years at Shandong University and 3 years teaching children, aged 7 to 17 in Skill schools. I have taught lessons in speaking, reading, grammar, and writing, but nowadays I enjoy facilitating conversation groups.
